Responses from 43 of 68 nursing specialty organizations surveyed showed only 30% intended to offer genetics programs in continuing-education offerings. None planned programming on consumer perspectives of genetic illnesses or gene mapping. (SK)

Analysis of a study of 16 businesses that recently internationalized identified five stages of the process: aspirational, procedural, behavioral, interactional, and conceptual. Needs for management learning varied with each stage, mostly involving tacit knowledge; reflective, action-oriented approaches; and generative double-loop learning. (SK)

A survey of 34 nurses found that 81% always complied with guidelines for caring for patients with human immunodeficiency virus or hepatitis B; only 31% complied when patients were low risk. Reasons for noncompliance were "no anticipated blood contact" (53%) or "too busy" (25%). (SK)
