Standard scores on comparable scales of the Strong-Campbell Interest Inventory and the ACT Interest Inventory were intercorrelated to test construct validity of the instruments. This article describes an attempt to differntiate Holland's six types by means of personality need variables. Participants were administered Holland's VPI and Jackson's Personality Research Form (PRF). One-way analyses of variance revealed that PRF variables could not differentiate Holland's six types. Problem-solving and creativity measures were administered to 127 gifted New York City school children from grades 4-6, in an attempt to relate these cognitive variables to affective traits of locus of control, self-esteem, and tolerance of ambiguity. The role of affective and associative meaningfulness in the learning styles of Chicanos and Anglos was examined. Chicano and Anglo undergraduates (N=64) were compared on learning of affectively and associatively assessed consonant-vowel-consonant trigrams. Compares scores on the Omnibus Personality Inventory by groups of relatively effective and ineffective trainees. Trainees completed tests prior to first practicum experience and were evaluated by practicum supervisors at the end of each practica.
