The traditional view of academic life is that students undergo recurring patterns of stress. In an attempt to investigate this notion, data were collected from five different student services. A common pattern was found, showing higher rates of stress during the first semester. (Author)

Hoffman, Roy A.; Ziegler, Edward W. – Measurement and Evaluation in Guidance, 1978
The writing samples of high school and college students were scored using objective indices. The relationships between these indices and the scores earned on a standarized English test were determined. The results support the contention that a standarized test could identify college students who have difficulty writing. (Author)
