Slocum, John W., Jr. – Group and Organization Studies, 1978
A sample of 152 change agents were given 24 diagnostic questions they might ask the client organization, questions related to the change agents' cognitive styles and the tactics most likely used by the change agents to bring about organizational and/or individual change. Conclusions are compared with previous research findings. (Author)

Subjects were randomly assigned to one of three groups: standard WAIS administration; a praise condition with praise for each correct WAIS response; and a self-monitoring condition with direct feedback on response accuracy. Results indicated that specific feedback is effective in inducing IQ test performance change in normal adults. (NG)

Examines role of social participation in postseparation and postdivorce adjustment. Subjects, 277 members of Parents without Partners chapters, were administered a 273-item questionnaire containing the Postdivorce Problems and Stress Scale. Higher levels of social participation were strongly related to lower stress. (Author)

Scale scores of KOIS profiles of 202 reentry women were converted to within individual form by means of a z-score transformation. Seven factors emerged on the female-normed scales and 11 factors on the male-normed scales. Four factors were similar in both norm sets and two showed some overlap. (Author)

Effects of model status and offender type on imitation of self-reward criteria were examined. Immature-inadequate and gang-oriented offenders viewed videotapes of models who were either stringent or liberal in self-reward criteria and were either staff members or peers. Assessed relative effects of therapist empathy and instructed imagination of heirarchy scenes on avoidance behavior reduction. Imagery instructions delivered in a relatively unempathetic fashion produced as much avoidance reduction as imagery instructions delivered in an empathetic manner. (Author)

This paper examines the informal consensus that psychological dysfunction, manifested by suicide and divorce, is unusually high among the occupational group of police officers.
