Sampel, David D.; Seymour, Warren R. – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1971
The academic performance of black students was evaluated in comparison with white students. Also, the efficiency of the two basic predictors of academic success was investigated. Among the findings were that some of the predictors had little or no relevance for black males. (Author/CG)

Halinski, Ronald S.; Feldt, Leonard S. – J Educ Meas, 1970
Four commonly employed procedures were repeatedly applied to computer-simulated samples to provide comparative data pertaining to two questions: (a) which procedure can be expected to produce and equation that yields the most accurate predictions for the population, and (b) which procedure is most likely to identify the optimal set of independent…

Lunneborg, Patricia W. – Educ Psychol Meas, 1970
Personality patterns did not improve prediction from aptitude and achievement variables in the weight determination sample and in cross-validation actually cancelled out predictability from traditional measures. Prediction of college grades from high school grades and aptitude tests was, on the other hand. both accurate and consistent. (Author)

Pounders, Cedric J. – Educ Psychol Meas, 1970
The EAS though less time consuming is shown to cover major psychological constructs of the ATGSB, and to offer a measure of the perceptual speed factor that was hypothesized to be related to success in computer-oriented and other data-analysis requirements in graduate business a schools. Bradley, Richard W.; Sanborn, Marshall P. – Journal of College Student Personnel, 1971
The study reported here is an attempt to improve on past precedures by using a developmental approach that involves repeated predictor measures over four years, together with GPA criteria including not only level of performance, but also consistency or change throughout undergraduate study. The methods used, however, did not lead to improved…

Doty, Barbara A. – Journal of Teacher Education, 1970
Study found that mature women were viewed as highly effective by their employing principals, but their potential effectiveness could not be predicted accurately from judgments of supervising teachers or major professors, or from measures of academic achievement. (RT)

Linn, Robert L.; Werts, Charles E. – Journal of Educational Measurement, 1971
Two problems in the investigation of predictive bias in tests, the effect of unreliability of the predictors, and the effect of excluding a predictor from the regression equation on which there are preexisting group differences, are discussed. (Author)

Reeve, Peggy Tarpley; Loper, Ann Booker – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1983
Forty-four children identified as learning disabled were administered Harter's Scale of Intrinsic versus Extrinsic Orientation in the Classroom. Scores were correlated with several indices of school behavior, standardized achievement test scores, report-card grades, and teachers' behavioral ratings. No pattern was evidenced between the scale and…

Hensley, Larry D.; And Others – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1982
This study investigated the relationship between selected physical performance tests and body fatness in 563 boys and girls in grades one through four. Findings indicated that, although inversely related to the ability to move total body weight, body fatness was of minimal importance in explaining sex-based performance differences. (CJ)
