Cleaveland, Bonnie L. – Journal of Child & Adolescent Substance Abuse, 1994
Current state-of-the-art substance abuse prevention programs are mostly social cognitive theory based. However, there are few publications which review specifically how modeling is applied to adolescent substance abuse prevention programs. This article reviews theoretical considerations for implementing modeling for this purpose. (Author/LKS)

Shea, Christopher – Chronicle of Higher Education, 1995
The trend in campus housing is to make college residence halls as much like apartments as possible, rather than impersonal high-rise dormitories. Older buildings are in favor despite a lack of amenities. Lower cost is a factor. One drawback is that students don't want to leave their rooms to socialize. (MSE)

Clinchy, Blythe McVicker – Phi Delta Kappan, 1995
What is striking about the Goals 2000 initiative is its virtual omission of the student, except as passive receptacle. To claim that students will learn more with heightened expectations is misleading. For content to take root, it must connect with students' internal "prepared structures" and become a "comfortable friend." In…

Weber, Barbara J.; Omotani, Les M. – Executive Educator, 1994
Research suggests that, when teachers believe they can influence student learning, they usually do.
