Kush, Joseph C.; Watkins, Marley W.; Ward, Thomas J.; Ward, Sandra B.; Canivez, Gary L.; Worrell, Frank C. – School Psychology Review, 2001
Uses both exploratory (EFA) and confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) to examine the factor structure of the WISC-III among White and Black students from the WISC-III standardization sample and a sample of 348 Black students referred for psychological evaluation. Results of the EFA provided evidence of a large first principal factor as well as the…

Keith, Timothy Z.; Kranzler, John H.; Flanagan, Dawn P. – School Psychology Review, 2001
Reports the results of the first joint confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the Cognitive Assessment System (CAS) and the Woodcock-Johnson Tests of Cognitive Abilities-3rd Edition (WJ III). Results of these analyses do not support the construct validity of the CAS as a measure of the PASS (planning, attention, simultaneous, and sequential)…

Lassiter, Kerry S.; Matthews, T. Darin; Bell, Nancy L.; Maher, Carrie M. – Psychology in the Schools, 2002
Ninety-four college students were administered the General Ability Measure for Adults (GAMA) and Kaufman Adolescent and Adult Intelligence Test (KAIT). GAMA IQs were significantly and moderately correlated with KAIT Fluid, Crystallized and Composite IQs, supporting the convergent validity of this instrument. Although significant correlations…

Oddi, Lorys F.; And Others – Adult Education Quarterly, 1990
To estimate construct validity of Oddi Continuing Learning Inventory (OCLI), 126 (of 256) nurses completed OCLI and Job Analysis Scale, measure of nurses' on-the-job learning activities. OCLI scores were not correlated with subscale measuring group instruction and with voluntary attendance in continuing education. Ways to strengthen OCLI were…

Gridley, Betty E.; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1990
Explored construct validity of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children (K-ABC) for at-risk preschool children (N=122). Concluded that distinct constructs of simultaneous and sequential processing could not be verified using this test alone, although further analyses supported the K-ABC subscales as strong measures of g, general factors of…

Marsh, Herbert W. – Applied Psychological Measurement, 1989
Three multitrait-multimethod studies are described, which indicated that ill-defined solutions were frequent, and alternative parameterizations tended only to mask this problem. Moreover, method factors sometimes represented trait variance as opposed to method variance. However, specification of method effects as correlated uniqueness proved more…

Campbell, Kathleen M.; Campbell, Donald J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1995
The construct validity of the Life Role Salience Scales was studied with 94 nonprofessional working women. Overall, with the exception of the study's inability to reproduce the value and commitment distinctions of the original analysis of the measure, results offer reasonable support for the construct validity of the scales. Brown, C. R.; Moore, F. L. – Research in Science and Technological Education, 1994
Analyzes construct validity of two different methods of assessing practical skills in advanced level biology by considering how candidates' scores on practical objectives relate to each other and to those on theory papers. Differences were found in the interrelationships among scores of the two methods. (ZWH)

Lewis, Daniel M.; Savickas, Mark L. – Journal of Career Assessment, 1995
Usable data from 214 of 227 college students who completed the Career Factors Inventory (CFI), Career Choice Status Inventory, Vocational Identity Scale, and Career Development Inventory demonstrated the CFI's construct validity through correlations with age and years in school. Concurrent validity was supported by correlations with career…

Janikowski, Timothy P.; And Others – Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin, 1990
Examined construct validity of Microcomputer Evaluation Screening and Assessment (MESA) Interest Survey. Administered MESA and United States Employment Service (USES) Interest Inventory to 74 volunteer rehabilitation clients. Evidence supported convergent and discriminant validity of MESA. Found fewer significant intercorrelations among MESA…

Johnson, Donald A.; Saunders, David R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1990
Confirmatory factor analysis using the LISREL computer program was performed on test scores from 500 workshop participants (adults) taking the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator--Expanded Analysis. Results, cross-validated with 500 other scores, support 4 factors as well-defined constructs. Improvements are suggested for subscale reliability. (SLD)

Swanson, Jane L.; And Others – Journal of Vocational Behavior, 1994
Item and factor analyses examined the psychometric characteristics of the White Racial Identity Attitude Scale based on data from 308 white college students. Then five trained judges assigned scale items to appropriate subscales. Results did not support the psychometric adequacy of the scale. (SK)
