Argues that administrative team management tends to produce a united effort in governing schools, is compatible with the best concepts of collaborative management, and allows educators to deal as a group with complex issues. (FL)

Power dependence theory and anticompetitive theory/sex strategy research were used to study a power v a socialization perspective. Results indicate that neither theory adequately explains perceptions or behavior in mixed sex groups. A sex stratification perspective can illuminate societal reasons for sex differences. Responding to Woodward (Journal of Educational Thought; v12 n3 p190-96 Dec 1978), the author disagrees that youth's cynicism is traceable solely to the skepticism evoked by modern science. Rather, he finds it expicable in the unchallenged sway of empiricism--the dominant interpretation of science under capitalism. (Author/SJL)

Discusses a study in which 50 introductory college-level sociology textbooks were examined to determine how the concept of power was treated. Findings indicated that power is generally presented as a macro-level phenomenon, with emphasis on institutionalized and legitimated forms of power. (Author/DB)
