Resnick, Melvyn C.; Hammond, Robert M. – Linguistics, 1975
Speech samples were obtained from college student Miami-area Cuban informants in an attempt to test the hypothesis that a compensatory phonemic change takes place in certain Spanish dialects in which syllable-final and word-final /s/ appear optionally as zero. Haton, Jean-Pierre – Revue de Phonetique Appliquee, 1974
Still no decisive result has been achieved in the automatic machine recognition of sentences of a natural language. Current research concentrates on developing algorithms for syntactic and semantic analysis. It is obvious that clues from all levels of perception have to be taken into account if a long term solution is ever to be found. (Author/MSE)

The situation in which an individual refers not to himself but to his role (e.g., a dean says, "It is the responsibility of the Dean..." instead of "It is my responsibility...") is considered. It is argued that in some circumstances, when a speaker uses certain kinds of definite descriptions to refer to himself, he may be…

Idiomatic or complex prepositions, phrases that perform the same functions as simple prepositions, are examined in Italian.
