Tested 61 randomly selected college students to determine whether methodologies employed in psycholinguistic investigation of sentence perception can be used to ascertain how screen media communicate. The paralinguistic techniques were not transferable to the examination of visual perception. More than 60 references are listed. (FM)

Durations of children's alpha bursts and alpha blocking were measured by EEG with eyes closed or open in the dark and with feedback visual stimulation. Alpha durations decreased across conditions. Repeated observations of a colored form results in slower reaction-time responses to the familiarized stimulus than to a comparable novel stimulus due to alertness decrement and encoding facilitation. Presents results of two experiments which measured contrast sensitivity function in infants. Information concerning development of visual acuity, low frequency attenuation, and sensitivity to contrast were collected.
