Peer reviewedMihevic, Patricia M. – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1983
The perceptual responses of individuals at different levels of physical fitness to absolute exercise intensities were compared. Perceived exertion, as measured by the Rating of Perceived Exertion scale, did not discriminate between subjects who were physically fit and those who were not, despite differences in physiological strain. (Author/PP)

Peer reviewedMartin, Carol Lynn; Halverson, Charles F., Jr. – Sex Roles: A Journal of Research, 1983
A verbal and a perceptual test of gender constancy were administered to 26 four- to six-year olds. The majority of the children answered questions as if referring to a "pretend" rather than "real" situation, which decreased scores of gender constancy on both tests. (AOS)
Descriptors: Children, Experimental Groups, Perception Tests, Primary Education
Peer reviewedPresson, Clark C. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition, 1982
Three experiments involved imagining the result of either an array rotating relative to a fixed viewer or a viewer rotating relative to a fixed array. The data suggested that adults use literal, concrete strategies to solve these problems. (Author/PN)

Aliotti, Nicholas C. – Academic Therapy, 1980
Young children (153 normal preschool and primary graders, 19 cerebral palsied 5 to 15 year olds, and 16 learning disabled 7 to 12 year olds) were given a test of immediate visual memory which required selection of a geometric design from among six alternatives, including a mirror image and a rotation. (CL)

Peer reviewedLane, David M. – Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, 1979
The ability to efficiently allocate attention between two tasks (auditory and visual memory tasks) differing in payoff was investigated among three grade levels: second, fourth, and college. There were seven males and three females from each grade level. (MP)

Peer reviewedNorthman, John E.; Black, Kathryn Norcross – Journal of Genetic Psychology, 1976
Tested the hypotheses that errors of ommission would occur more frequently than errors of commission and errors would be related to stimulus complexity. A total of 48 children from grades 1 and 3 were given a memory task (involving visual and haptic memory) for recognition of random polygons. (MS)
