Exploring Conflict Transformation through Experiences with Art
Rebecca Shipe
Art Education, v78 n1 p28-36 2025
Conflict transformation positions individuals to become more complex as they embrace the transformative benefits that result from working through conflicts. This article explores this topic in art education, as sharing personal interpretations of visual art with others creates an opportunity for participants to experience conflict transformation. The author shares how it was incorporated into an ongoing, online art exhibition which allowed participants to consider the value of encountering conflict with optimism and recognize how to transform conflicts into opportunities for positive growth. Considering conflict transformation might help students generate healthier ways of processing the violence they witness in contemporary society.
