Trained nonphysician teaching-associates teach the essentials of the male genital-rectal examination to medical students in a model program developed at the University of Iowa. The learning stations described in this article prepare older elementary students to tutor younger ones. The present research was undertaken to test the effectiveness of beginning training at the motor level for children having difficulty with the symbolic system of reading.
