The nature of materials produced by social science projects are examined with respect to the spectra of opinion about what the social studies should be. The author concludes that these cool" materials (value-free social science through guided inquiry) belong in the midst of investigation of controversial issues. (JB)

Reviews the role of science and technology in improving the conditions of human living and suggests some ways of improving the quality of life. Modern youth is complimented for having raised important moral issues. The role of science educators in presenting science to students in a meaningful way is discussed. (LC)

This would place the schools in the hands of the particular ethnic group most heavily represented within a given system and would prevent suppression of minority group cultures for the sake of prosletyzing middle class ideas. Social pollution provides the matrix for the pollution of the physical environment. This stems from man's present inability to function synergistically. To find new freedoms in purposeful evolution, we will have to start cleansing our Mind. (Author/SD)
