Lessons learned from the French experience in integrating continuing education into the universities include these: politically and ideologically, adult and continuing education are different and must be treated thus; autonomy is necessary; the university has no monopoly; and marginalization of adult education is a hazard of this approach. A Manchester, England, high school designed lower school curriculum structures via computer and investigated their feasibility using the Nor Data School Scheduling System.
