Constantine, Madonna G.; Gloria, Alberta M.; Ladany, Nicholas – Cultural Diversity & Ethnic Minority Psychology, 2002
Examines the extent to which three self-report multicultural scales were measuring the predominant three-factor conceptualization of multicultural counseling competence. Results of a confirmatory factor analysis reveal that the three-factor model was not fully supported. Implications of the findings for clinical practice, training, and research…

Bradford, Roger; Rutherford, Donna L.; John, Alexandra – Journal of Adolescence, 2002
Provides British data relating to the 54-item Quality of Life Profile Adolescent Version and explores the underlying factor structure of the questionnaire. The relationship between demographic variables (such as social economic status, gender and ethnicity) and quality of life were investigated. Of the demographic variables examined, only age was…

Salter, Daniel W.; Vandiver, Beverly J. – Journal of College Student Development, 2002
The Salter Environmental Type Assessment (SETA) was created to be a commensurate measure for the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and to improve the efficacy of the person-environmental interaction paradigm to student affairs. A confirmatory factor analysis of SETA profiles supported the four dimensions in environmental type theory. The utility of this…

Swanson, H. Lee; And Others – Journal of Special Education, 1989
The factor structure of the Kaufman Assessment Battery for Children was evaluated with 169 gifted students, aged 6-10. Results tentatively suggested that the factor solution for gifted students is dissimilar to that for the standardization sample, as subtests designed to assess sequential processing did not all load together, nor did those…

Martindale, Cameron J.; Drake, James B. – Adult Education Quarterly, 1989
The authors attempted to validate the Deterrents to Participation Scale with a different population and to investigate why enlisted personnel did not participate in voluntary, off-duty education. Results indicated that the instrument measured the previously identified deterrents and identified eight deterrent factors. (Author/CH)

King, Lynda A.; King, Daniel W. – Assessment, 1994
Factor analyses evaluated the dimensionality of the Mississippi Scale for Combat-Related Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder using three subsamples of over 2,200 Vietnam veterans. Results suggest that the latent structure of the scale is best represented as an umbrella factor leading to four subsidiary facets or dimensions. (SLD)

Stone, Brian J. – Diagnostique, 1992
The joint factor structure of the Differential Abilities Scale (DAS) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Revised (WISC-R) was investigated with 115 normal children (ages 8-15). Analysis supported the DAS structure and the WISC-III four-factor reinterpretation of the WISC-R. (Author/DB)

Finlayson, Shannon B.; Obrzut, John E. – Psychology in the Schools, 1993
Administered Quick Neurological Screening Test-Revised (QNST-R) to 122 elementary-aged children diagnosed with learning disabilities. QNST-R appeared to measure primarily lower order sensory perception/processing and fine and gross motoric skills, which are thought presumably to serve as basis for later higher order cognitive functions. Age, but…

Gioia, Gerard A. – Assessment, 1998
The intercorrection matrices of the standardization sample (n=1,460) of the Wide Range Assessment of Memory and Learning (D. Sheslow and W. Adams, 1990), a measure of memory function in children, were submitted to hierarchical exploratory principal factor analysis. Results suggest that subtests be interpreted as unique entities first, and then as…

Parmer, Twinet – Journal of College Student Development, 1998
Examined the interaction of gender and education as influences on mate selection characteristics. Students (N=156) rated 22 characteristics for importance in selecting a partner. A factor analysis yielded three factor scores (social stratification, personality, physical variables) that were significant only for gender across the social and…

Garland, Ann F.; Saltzman, Marla D.; Aarons, Gregory A. – Evaluation and Program Planning, 2000
Developed a multidimensional scale of adolescents' satisfaction with mental health services with items derived from qualitative interviews about their experiences in services. Results from 180 adolescents indicate the psychometric qualities of the scale. Discusses the four-factor structure and scale reliability. (SLD)

Ludlow, Larry H.; Lunz, Mary E. – Journal of Outcome Measurement, 1998
The degree of invariance of the Job Responsibilities Scale for medical technologists was studied for 1993 and 1995, conducting factor analyses of data from each year (1063 and 665 individuals, respectively). Nearly identical factor patterns were found, and Rasch rating scale analyses found nearly identical pairs of item estimates. Implications are…

Steinhausen, Hans-Christoph; Metzke, Christa Winkler – Journal of Youth and Adolescence, 1998
The Youth Self Report was used in a Swiss epidemiological study with 1,093 subjects aged 10 to 17 years. Internal consistency was good for three second-order factors, but it was less satisfactory for almost all syndrome scales. In general, internal consistency coefficients were slightly lower than for the U.S. sample. (SLD)

Cramer, Kenneth M. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1998
Whether the one- or two-factor Wechsler or weighted sum scores (WSS) structural models adequately fit the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children III (WISC-III) covariance matrices was studied with samples of 2200 and 1118 children from previous studies. Both the WSS and supplemented models provided better fit than Wechsler's model but still…

Worrell, Frank C.; Vandiver, Beverly J.; Watkins, Marley W. – Psychology in the Schools, 2001
Examines the factor structure of the Learning Behavior Scale (LBS) in a sample of 257 elementary school students. Results indicate that the internal consistency of the total LBS scores were high enough for individual decision making, whereas the reliability estimates of scores on the Attention/Persistence and Strategy/Flexibility subscales were…
