National Education Association, Washington, DC. – 1969
This is the National Education Association (NEA) Research Division's 24th annual report on the economic status of the teaching profession. The compendium of tables and brief descriptive text are divided into three major sections. The first part concerns trends in salaries paid to classroom teachers and other instructional staff members in public…

Barnes, Clarence Harold – 1973
The objective was to investigate the factors which influence the upward movement of skilled craftsmen within the firm. Particular attention was directed to the importance of apprenticeship training in causing intrafirm upgrading; that is: were apprentice-trained craftsmen more inclined to be promoted than nonapprentice-trained craftsmen. Observed…

Ruark, Billie Joanne – 1973
The study attempted to answer six research questions designed to assess the perceptions of selected school administrators, teachers, students, and members of the Trade and Industrial Education staff of the Oklahoma State Department of Vocational and Technical Education relative to the roles of the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America (VICA). It…

Werts, C. E.; And Others – 1972
Intraclass correlation reliability estimates are based on the assumption that the various measures are equivalent. Joreskog's (1970) general model for the analysis of covariance structures can be used to test the validity of this assumption. (For related document, see TM 002 301.) (Author)

Harway, Michele; And Others – 1976
This unindexed, extensively annotated bibliography is arranged alphabetically by author. It contains 167 references, of which most were published after 1970, with a few "classic" references from the 60's. Citations include books, journal articles, dissertations, and experimental studies with detailed reporting of results. Titles selected…

McShane, Michael G. – 1977
In a related study, factor analysis was applied to reduce a selected set of medical school characteristics to their principal dimensions. In this study, the results were then used as input to a series of multivariate cluster analyses that isolated clusters of medical schools that were similar to each other and different from schools in other…

Olivas, Michael A. – 1975
A survey was sent to the entire institutional membership of the American Association of Community and Junior Colleges in spring 1975 in order to ascertain the extent of honors programs available for two-year college students of exceptional ability. Of the 1,270 institutions surveyed, 644 responded (51%). Results of the survey showed: (1) 47 of the…

Goldman, Leo – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1976
Major changes in the methods and contents of research are needed. Promising trends in the design and conduct of studies include: (a) macroscopic rather than microscopic levels of study; (b) field rather than laboratory studies; (c) focusing on the total individual; (d) developing a contractual relationship between researcher and subject. Ethington, Corinna A. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1987
This study examined the effect of type of correlation matrix on the robustness of LISREL maximum likelihood and unweighted least squares structural parameter estimates for models with categorical variables. The analysis of mixed matrices produced estimates that closely approximated the model parameters except where dichotomous variables were…

Millsap, Roger E.; Meredith, William – Psychometrika, 1987
The slower progress of semantic memory research is attributed to the difficulties involved in testing the relevant theories. This paper proposes a model for testing such theories using the Continuous Response (CR) task. The model establishes a link between the rate of recall and the semantic relationships among the category items. (JAZ)

Broodbooks, Wendy J.; Elmore, Patricia B. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1987
The effects of sample size, number of variables, and population value of the congruence coefficient on the sampling distribution of the congruence coefficient were examined. Sample data were generated on the basis of the common factor model, and principal axes factor analyses were performed. (Author/LMO)

Greenberg, Marvin – Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, 1988
Critiques a study comparing the effects of reality therapy to the effects of two other disciplinary systems--removal from class activity, and assigning extra work--on student perceptions of classroom behavior and on student attitudes. Greenberg commends Faber's use of reality therapy regarding music education but identifies weaknesses in research…

Gustafson, Glenn E. – Spectrum, 1987
Using data from the "Gallup Polls of the the Public's Attitude Toward Education," this study examines how certain socioeconomic and demographic characteristics (parent/nonparent, education level, age, gender, city size, religious preference, and geographic region) relate to a community's assessment of public school education. Includes…

Swaminathan, Hariharan; Gifford, Janice A. – Psychometrika, 1986
A joint Bayesian estimation procedure for estimating parameters in the three-parameter logistic model is developed. Simulation studies show that the Bayesian procedure (1) ensures that the estimates stay in the parameter space and (2) produces better estimates than the joint maximum likelihood procedure. Zwick, Rebecca – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1986
The purpose of the current study was to investigate the relative performance of the parametric, rank, and normal scores procedures when the classical assumptions were met and under violations of these assumptions. This investigation included the normal scores as well as the rank test. (LMO)
