The Crossover Episode: The Teaching Librarian as CTL Director
Jessica Hammack
Journal of Faculty Development, v40 n1 p67-69 2026
This article investigates the dual role of a teaching librarian who concurrently serves as the director of a Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at a liberal arts college. The author identifies productive intersections between the missions of the library and the CTL, demonstrating how integrating staff librarians into faculty development initiatives can broaden participation across campus. By adopting a more expansive definition of teaching, faculty developers can design more inclusive programming that enhances the visibility of their work while connecting faculty and staff to valuable instructional resources and opportunities for collaboration.
