McDonald, Daniel G.; Glynn, Carroll J. – Journalism Quarterly, 1984
Examines the stability-reliability of two of the gratification constructs--surveillance and communicatory utility--to provide evidence on the convergence of several of the indicators used in previous research and to examine the interrelationships between the constructs. (FL)

Gajar, Anna Helen – Teacher Education and Special Education, 1983
Reliability ratings were conducted on 18 operationally defined teacher behaviors within four competency-based teacher education categories: planning instruction, methodology, behavior management, and classroom management. Percentages of agreement calculated on product and performance sections of an observational checklist were in the acceptable…

Bloomquist, Michael L.; Harris, William G. – Journal of Clinical Psychology, 1984
Administered three Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) family scales and three criterion family scales to undergraduates (N=110). Findings suggested that the MMPI family scales are reliable and concurrently valid measures of an individual's perception of interpersonal family relationships. (LLL)

McCauley, Rebecca J.; Swisher, Linda – Journal of Speech and Hearing Disorders, 1984
Thirty language and articulation tests for preschool children were reviewed using 10 psychometric criteria appropriate to norm-referenced tests. Half of the reviewed tests met no more than two criteria, and only three tests met over four criteria. Most frequently unmet criteria were those requiring empirical evidence of validity and reliability.…

Preddy, David; And Others – Journal of School Psychology, 1984
Prueba Boehm de Conceptos Basicos (PBCB), a Spanish translation of the Boehm Test of Basic Concepts, was administered to 1,292 children in Puerto Rico. Normative information, reported by type of school, by grade, and by time of year tested is presented. The reliability of PBCB was established. (BH)

Kunce, Joseph T.; Priesmeyer, Marydeth L. – Journal of Counseling Psychology, 1985
Investigated dimensions of family dynamics via test construction and cross validation, with a developmental sample (N=93) and a validity generalization sample (N=65). Developed two scales that correlated significantly with perceptions of family stability and quality in the developmental and validity generalization samples. (BH)

Su, Ra-Van; Yerxa, Elizabeth J. – Occupational Therapy Journal of Research, 1984
This study compared the test-retest reliability of the Southern California Sensory Integration Tests and the Luria-Nebraska Neuropsychological Battery--Children's Version. Both sets were administered twice to a group of 30 dysfunctional eight-year-old children. Findings are discussed in relation to reliability coefficients for normal as well as…

Yarnold, Paul R. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
Unreliable profiles impose the difficulty that ordinal and interval relations among the individual's scores become uncertain or unstable. A profile reliability coefficient is derived to estimate the relative expected extent of this ordinal and interval "inversion" for any profile of K measures. (Author/DWH)

Edmunds, Gloria J. – Journal of Non-White Concerns in Personnel and Guidance, 1984
Used the Black Student Stress Inventory to examine stress factors for Black students in six areas: (1) personal; (2) interpersonal; (3) academic; (4) environmental; (5) financial; and (6) career. Item analysis indicated the BSSI is reliable. Program implications were suggested. (JAC)

Wasserman, Theodore H. – Child and Family Behavior Therapy, 1983
Forty-four emotionally disturbed and 112 elementary school children were administered the Children's Dysfunctional Cognition Scale (CDC) for purposes of standardizing the instrument. Results indicate that the CDC is reliable and valid. The scale differentiates between normal and disturbed populations and is highly correlated with teacher's ratings…

Mardell-Czudnowski, Carol D.; Lessen, Elliott I. – Diagnostique, 1982
Special education tests evaluated by M. Thurlow and J. Ysseldyke with regard to technical adequacy were reevaluated using the same criteria. There was disagreement of 11 of the 30 tests used in both evaluations, demonstrating that current test standards are vague enough that experts disagree. (Author/CL)

Conger, Anthony J. – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1983
A paradoxical phenomenon of decreases in reliability as the number of elements averaged over increases is shown to be possible in multifacet reliability procedures (intraclass correlations or generalizability coefficients). Conditions governing this phenomenon are presented along with implications and cautions. (Author)

Fulmer, Susanne; Fulmer, Robert – Journal of Learning Disabilities, 1983
The Pre-Reading-Screening Procedures and the Slingerland Screening Tests for Identifying Children with Specific Language Disability were administered to 1021 grade one to six students. Results indicated that reliability and validity coefficients were acceptable and that educational programing decisions could confidently be based on the test…
