Bower, Nathan W. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1982
Background information, procedures, and typical results are provided for an experiment which integrates principles of fluorescent and kinetic analysis. In the procedure, mecuric chloride is used as a selective oxidizing agent for converting thiamine to thiochrome. The experiment can be completed in a two-hour laboratory period. (Author/JN)

Splittgerber, Allan G. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1983
Presented is a possible approach to the classroom treatment of enzyme kinetics at the two-substrate level. Areas discussed include single substrate cases, two substrate cases, Cleland's rules, dead end inhibition, inhibitor complexing with more than one enzyme form, and product inhibition. (JN)

Gagnon, Micheline; And Others – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1983
A method for determining the tridimensional angular displacement of skates during the two-legged stop in ice hockey was developed and validated. The angles were measured by geometry, using a cinecamera and specially equipped skates. The method provides a new tool for kinetic analyses of skating movements. (Authors/PP)

Plagenhoef, Stanley; And Others – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1983
Anatomical data obtained from cadavers and from water displacement studies with living subjects were used to determine the weight, center of gravity, and radius of gyration for 16 body segments. A lead model was used to study movement patterns of the trunk section of the body. (Authors/PP)

Diamandis, E. P.; And Others – Journal of Chemical Education, 1983
The kinetic of the Jaffe reaction with picrate ion selective electrode (ISE) and a kinetic method for determining creatinine in urine is presented. The experiment could be used to familarize students with the application of ISE in kinetic studies and chemical analysis. (Author/JN)

Castano, F.; And Others – Journal of Chemical Education, 1983
The RKR method for determining accurate potential energy curves is described. Advantages of using the method (compared to Morse procedure) and a TRS-80 computer program which calculates the classical turning points by an RKR method are also described. The computer program is available from the author upon request. (Author/JN)

Moss, Stephen J. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1982
Discusses principles of a particular approach in teaching elementary kinetics of polymerization. Although the treatment discussed is more difficult for students to grasp, problems may be reduced using a computer program. The program, written in Applesoft Basic, is available from the author together with sample output. (JN)

Pacey, Philip D. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1981
Provides background material which relates to the concept of activation energy, fundamental in the study of chemical kinetics. Compares the related concepts of the Arrhenius activation energy, the activation energy at absolute zero, the enthalpy of activation, and the threshold energy. (CS)
