Butcher, Elizabeth; Scofield, Michael E. – Counselor Education and Supervision, 1984
Used a standardized treatment planning simulation and a process tracing strategy to qualitatively examine how mental health clinicians (N=15) solved a typical client management problem. Results showed that respondents used descriptive rather than formal diagnostic terms and that strategies varied with training and experience. (LLL)

Boehnke, Klaus – Educational and Psychological Measurement, 1984
The effects of some restraints not included in the classical assumptions of the F- and H-Test (e.g., correlation of mean and sample size) were examined in a simulation design. Also simulated was a situation in which two assumptions were not met simultaneously. (Author/BW)

Harrop, John W.; Velicer, Wayne F. – Multivariate Behavioral Research, 1985
Computer generated data representative of 16 Auto Regressive Integrated Moving Averages (ARIMA) models were used to compare the results of interrupted time-series analysis using: (1) the known model identification, (2) an assumed (l,0,0) model, and (3) an assumed (3,0,0) model as an approximation to the General Transformation approach. Menks, Ferol – Gerontologist, 1983
Describes The Road of Life, a board game developed to increase understanding of the experiences of the elderly by simulating the gains and losses of old age. The game, followed by a group discussion, is an effective way to facilitate an increased understanding of old age. (JAC)

ABCA Bulletin, 1984
Describes two methods of getting students involved in relevant, business writing assignments: reaction papers to business journal articles and exercises in which communication students dictate letters to shorthand students. (AEA)

Cousins, Jack E. – Social Studies, 1984
Reviewed are four simulations, two of which use microcomputers, which can provide secondary students with important analytical concepts by which presidential elections may be followed. The simulations are Elect 1 and 2, Hat in the Ring, Coalition, and Hail to the Chief. (RM)

Kilburn, Joan – Teaching Exceptional Children, 1984
A community education program developed to deal with negative attitudes in elementary and secondary students included sharing of personal experiences by handicapped persons and simulation activities. Followup activities include values clarification, role-playing exercises, and publication of a newsletter. (CL)

Green, John O. – Classroom Computer Learning, 1984
Discusses how the power and potential of the computer may shape the classroom of the future by presenting a scenario of a classroom in the year 2001. The role of artificial intelligence in this environment is considered. (JN)
