L'Allier, James J.; Tennyson, Robert D. – Journal of Computer-Based Instruction, 1980
Identifies design variables directly related to the development of computer-based instruction (CBI) and shows how those variables can be applied in the actual development of a course. The design is for a computer literacy course concerned with both content and student attitudes about that content. (Author)

Wilson, Donald C. – Canadian Journal of Education, 1981
The article examines the traditionalist, conceptual-empiricist, and reconceptualist views of curriculum. It gives a framework for examining the underlying teacher intentions, teaching theory, and teaching models of teacher education programs that reflect those views. (SB)

Reigeluth, Charles M.; And Others – Instructional Science, 1980
Discusses the importance of models of instruction and the need to consider subject-matter structure in organizing instruction. The components of the elaboration model and variations in the model for different kinds of goals are described. (Author/CHC)

Merrill, Paul F. – NSPI Journal, 1980
Describes ways in which algorithms which refer to underlying procedures should be represented in order to improve communication in educational and/or training materials. Representations of linear procedures, decision rule procedures, and complex procedures are provided. (MER)

Pagliaro, Louis A. – Educational Technology, 1979
Briefly reviews the literature on instructional interactions and introduces the Mega Interactive Model of Instruction, the variable dimensions of which are instructor, learner, instruction/content/context, and time. (RAO)
Descriptors: Aptitude Treatment Interaction, Individual Differences, Instruction, Instructional Design
Rossett, Allison; Sharpe, David M. – Educational Technology, 1979
Outlines a decision matrix for use by students in selecting a project in graduate educational technology design and production courses. Decision variables relevant to the product, audience, and developer are discussed and the matrix used at San Diego State University is presented as an example. (RAO)

Spool, Mark D. – Personnel Psychology, 1978
This review covers the past 25 years of research literature on training observers of behavior, specifically in the areas of interviewing, reducing rater bias, interpersonal perception and observation as a research tool. The focus is on determining the most successful training methods and their theoretical bases. (Author/SJL)

O'Donoghue, J.; Bajpai, A. C. – Programmed Learning and Educational Technology, 1979
Describes experiences with a Keller-style computer studies course for future mathematics teachers. Aspects of the implementation are detailed, the motivation for thoughts behind the course are discussed, and the evaluation of student performance is supplemented by students' reactions to the course as measured by a semantic differential.…

Vance, Barbara – Journal of Research and Development in Education, 1979
In the model presented here, it is proposed that four factors and their interrelationships be considered when planning moral values instruction: the desired values of a society or subculture, learner ability, learner motivation, and theory-based instructional design principles. (Author)

Hackbarth, Steven – Educational Media and Technology Yearbook, 1997
Discusses learning based on the World Wide Web for elementary and secondary schools. Topics include evolution of the World Wide Web; attributes that permit the design of superior learning activities in the areas of communications, information retrieval, and information sharing; integrating Web-based activities into the curriculum; and pertinent…

Langdon, Danny G. – Performance Improvement, 1997
Describes a systematic approach to selecting instructional designs, discussing performance analysis, gaps, elements (inputs, conditions, process, outputs, consequences, feedback), matrices, changes in performance state (establishing, improving, maintaining, and extinguishing performance), intervention interference, and involving others in…

Ostendorf, Virginia A. – New Directions for Teaching and Learning, 1997
Live television is the fastest-growing distance learning delivery mode. Instructors must understand how distance learning differs from both the traditional classroom and commercial television, how the basic technology operates, the role played by the teacher in delivering instruction, how to design courses according to system capabilities, and how…

Langdon, Danny – Performance Improvement, 1997
Although behavioral objectives communicate instructional intent, they lack the detail needed to make decisions about design, intervention, and development. Proposes "proformas" as a more complete and accurate way of defining performance. Describes the "language of work" model, discusses its elements: input, conditions, process,…

Reznich, Christopher B. – Computers in Human Behavior, 1996
Minimalist design principles were used to test whether instructional intervention could decrease computer anxiety of subjects learning basic word-processing skills. Subjects were pre- and posttested on anxiety during each session. Findings indicated that the method as well as increased computer use decreased anxiety. (Author/AEF)
