Keith, Pat M. – Omega: Journal of Death and Dying, 1981
Examined quantification of time remaining and perceived distance from death among 568 older men and women. A substantial proportion (49 percent) didn't quantify the remaining portion of life, and age did not prompt specification of time remaining. Demographic characteristics predicted perceived distance from death better than life changes or sex.…

And Others; Baird, John C. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 1979
This experiment tested the ability of people to recall the locations of buildings in a familiar campus setting. Ten graduate students represented the relative locations of buildings by pairwise distance judgments and by direct mapping of locations on a Tektronix cathode ray terminal. Both methods led to accurate judgments. (Author/CTM)

Baird, John C.; Merrill, Amanda A. – Journal of Experimental Psychology: General, 1979
This experiment investigated preferences for the location of facilities in an ideal town. Ten graduate students represented the relative locations of facilities (home, school, factory) by two methods: (1) pairwise ideal distances on a 100-point scale and (2) direct planning of locations on a Tektronix cathode ray screen. (Author/CTM)

Wellens, A. Rodney; Goldberg, Myron L. – Journal of Psychology, 1978
Indicates that dyadic relationships are seen as less positive with increasing distances between members and with less direct physical orientation, though contributing factors show that such effects are not simply additive. Shows that sex differences distinguish the judgments that observers make about dyadic relationships. (RL)

Ferrington, Gary – Journal of Visual Literacy, 1994
This article suggests that the development of listening skills should extend to the "soundscape" of nonspeech acoustical information. Allen, Richard; Hulme, Charles – Journal of Memory and Language, 2006
We report two experiments examining the role of concreteness and word phonological neighborhood characteristics on immediate serial recall. In line with previous findings concreteness, word frequency, and larger neighborhood size are associated with better serial recall. Both concreteness and word neighborhood size were also positively associated…

Farrimond, Samantha J.; Leland, Louis S., Jr. – Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, 2006
There has been little research into interventions to increase participation in donating items to food-bank bins. In New Zealand, there has been an increased demand from food banks (Stewart, 2002).
