Huttenlocher, Janellen; And Others – Psychological Review, 1991
A model of category effects found in reports of episodic memory is proposed. The model holds that stimuli are presented at a fine-grain level of detail and a category. Four experiments involving a total of 131 University of Chicago (Illinois) students and faculty are reported in support of the model. (SLD)

The concept of testlet differential item functioning (testlet DIF) is defined, and a statistical method is presented to detect testlet DIF. In a simulation study, factor analysis and multidimensional item response theory (IRT) models are compared with respect to estimates of item parameters. The nature of the attitude-behavior relation was investigated through the use of structural equation models in a cross-lagged panel design involving 254 undergraduates reacting to 2 kinds of goal-directed behaviors. Studied the extent to which three appropriateness indexes, Z(sub 3), ECIZ4, and W, are well standardized in a Monte Carlo study.
