Doyle, Charles – NJEA Review, 1982
Most of the shoreline of New Jersey is found along the state's many bays and lagoons. The estuary resources provide recreation areas and fish, bird and animal habitats. The geographic and ecological characteristics of the shoreline are described with sources of educational information about bays. (CM)

Giguere, Paul A. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1983
The statement is sometimes made in textbooks that liquid hydrogen peroxide is more strongly associated than water, evidenced by its higher boiling point and greater heat of vaporization. Discusses these and an additional factor (the nearly double molecular mass of the peroxide), focusing on hydrogen bonds and structure of the molecule. (JN)

Noble, Richard D. – Chemical Engineering Education, 1983
Presents an undergraduate laboratory experiment in which a solar collector is used to heat water for domestic use. The working fluid is moved by natural convection so no pumps are required. Experimental apparatus is simple in design and operation so that data can be collected quickly and easily. (Author/JN)
Descriptors: Chemical Engineering, Engineering Education, Heating, Higher Education
Markle, Sandra – Instructor, 1981
Presents science activities to help elementary children learn about water resources and home water conservation. A reproducible worksheet is included. (SJL)

Corapcioglu, M. Y.; Koroglu, F. – Journal of Geological Education, 1982
Crushed glass and a Rhodamine B solution are used in a one-dimensional optically scanned column experiment to study the dispersion phenomenon in porous media. Results indicate that the described model gave satisfactory results and that the dispersion process in this experiment is basically convective. (DC)

Herron, J. Dudley, Ed. – Journal of Chemical Education, 1980
Presents questions and answers about the fluoridation of water regarding the compounds added to drinking water in the fluoridation process, how raw water is tested for fluoride content, and how fluoride reacts with tooth enamel. (CS)
Descriptors: Chemistry, Dental Health, Health Education, Science Education
Stephens, Lillian – Instructor, 1981
Presented are methods to help teachers continue the environmental awareness programs they have already started by providing up-to-date information and activities dealing with air pollution, water pollution, and solid waste disposal. (Author/KC)
Descriptors: Air Pollution, Elementary Education, Environmental Education, Learning Activities
NJEA Review, 1981
Alarmed by the growing water shortage, the New Jersey State Office of Dissemination has prepared this annotated list of free or inexpensive instructional materials for teaching about water conservation, K-l2. A tipsheet for home water conservation is appended. (Editor/SJL)

Andrus, Cecil – EPA Journal, 1979
The National Park Service seeks to set the standard for environmental protection in the federally-owned lands which it administers. Often pollution from sources outside park boundaries creates adverse impacts within the parks. Innovative approaches and cooperative efforts are then required to protect the parks. (RE)
Descriptors: Air Pollution, Conservation Education, Environment, Environmental Education
Smith, Anthony Wayne – EPA Journal, 1979
Civilization is more and more intruding on the esthetic and recreational resources of the National Park System. Increased attention must be paid to controlling noise, pollution, and even the effects of urban lighting which detract from the enjoyment of the parks. (RE)
Descriptors: Air Pollution, Conservation (Environment), Environment, Government Role
Osher, John D. – School Business Affairs, 1979
A discussion of savings of water and hot water heating fuel and an appropriate means of choosing the right products. (Author/MLF)

Ray, John B. – Journal of Geography, 1979
Examines physical conditions that were major considerations in the selection of Port Valdez, Alaska, as the site for the marine terminal for the trans-Alaska pipeline. Topics discussed include rejected sites, advantages of Port Valdez, description and operation of Valdez terminal, and marine tanker access. (Author/DB)
