Undergraduate technology education students were divided into 4 groups: 47 took an in-class test, 61 a take-home test, and 63 no test. Both types of tests appeared to promote retention learning. Choice of test depends upon the learning situation and the specific objectives to be tested. (SK)

Guttman, Louis; Levy, Shlomit – Intelligence, 1991
Two structural laws for intelligence tests are discussed: one law concerns the sign of correlation coefficients and gives conditions under which all correlations between test items will be positive; and one law concerns the relative sizes of the correlation coefficients between intelligence items. Describes the construction of a new instrument to measure college student hassles. Results from the 20-item Brief College Student Hassles Scale (BCSHS) indicated that greater perceived hassles were associated with a pessimistic outlook and more persistent symptoms of poor psychological adjustments in college students. A procedure for checking the score equivalence of nearly identical editions of a test is described and illustrated with Scholastic Aptitude Test data. The capability of the DIMTEST statistical test in assessing essential unidimensionality of item responses to real tests was investigated for 22 real tests of at least 25 items and 700 or more examinees.
