Examined opinions of normal subjects (N=120) and patients diagnosed as manic and schizophrenic (N=150) regarding Ellis's 11 irrational beliefs. Results showed that the schizophrenia and major depressive groups endorsed three and four irrational beliefs respectively with no endorsement from the normal and manic groups. (LLL)

In investigating two samples of psychological reports, the results showed that the reports either provided new and significant information or provided information which confirmed information previously suspected but not well established. In doubling, the double served both as an auxiliary ego for the patient and as a model from which the withdrawn patient learned effective group participation skills. The results from the present study indicate that in a sample of psychotherapy patients, cooperative and less cooperative research subjects are distinguishable on a number of characteristics including background and psychotherapy variables. These results caution against generalizations based merely on cooperative participants. (Author)
