Howieson, Noel – Journal of Creative Behavior, 1981
One hundred thirty participants of a 1965 study were reevaluated for creative thinking. Results revealed that in the areas of art, writing, science, and generality of achievement, the creative group established in 1965 accomplished significantly more than the noncreatives over the 10-year period. The humor element as a reinforcing tool was examined. Experimental group subjects selecting nouns were shown humorous cartoons. Non-noun selection was followed by a humorless cartoon.
