In a study of teacher expectations and behavior, teachers were told that certain children would bloom in creative ability. Eight months later the designated bloomers showed gains in creativity scores as well as in their IQ scores. (ST)

Preschool reading behavior did not arise necessarily or spontaneously in an open classroom where a set of books was continually available. Because the open classroom acquires new properties and meanings when contrasted with the traditional school, complex factors influencing behavior, such as novelty and modeling, must be examined. Discusses the cultural inhibitions on females and the traditional restraints imposed by society on the professional woman's flexibility of movement and her access to opportunity which in turn stifle creative scientific ability. Suggestions are made to encourage the emergence of scientific creativity on women. (BR)

Mathematical processes involve both rigorous logical thinking and creativity. The difficulty with the new math seems to lie with its apparent reliance on logic alone. It is important to stress intuition and guessing as well as deduction in order to make mathematics better understood. (SD)
