The development of the relationship between mothers and their infants was investigated at the child's 10th, 22nd, and 42nd month of age. A large number of mother, infant, and dyadic characteristics were assessed at each of the observation periods. A structural equations approach was taken in the analysis of observational data. The use of values clarification methodology in public schools and by quasi-public agencies is questioned. Among the objections raised are that the approach is theoretically weak, conflicts with many traditional beliefs, and constitutes an invasion of privacy. National survey data were utilized to measure differences in self-perception, motivation, and social support through seven stages of the family life cycle. In most cases, stages of family life were significantly associated with psychological and social change in adulthood, regardless of sex. (Author)

Examined the relation between value system similarity of spouses and marital adjustment. Results indicated that value similarity was only peripherally related to the level of marital adjustment. However, spouse value similarity appeared to have a significant impact upon adjustment in the later years of marriage. (Author)
