Das, J. P. – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1973
In the present study two modes of information integration, simultaneous and successive, were proposed as alternatives to reasoning and memory. The generality of these two was tested by factor analyzing the cognitive test scores of 9-11-year-old children from Canada and India. (Editor/RK)

Hays, Billie M.; Pereira, Esther R. – Journal of Experimental Education, 1972
Purpose of this study was to determine whether a specific cell, Memory of Figural Units--Visual Mode (MFU-V), of the Structure of Intellect (SOI) can be significantly affected by training kindergarten and first-grade children, and whether improvement in MFU-V has a significant effect on reading achievement of first grade children. Seamon, J. G. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
Research based on doctoral dissertation submitted at the University of Massachusetts. Experiment findings show that serial processes are present in recall and recognition for short-term and long-term storage. (DS)

Tversky, Barbara – Developmental Psychology, 1973
It is evident from this task that preschool children can remember simple pictures as well as their names, that either pictorial or verbal codes can mediate memory of either pictures or words in accordance with task demands, and that same-different judgments tend to be faster to pictures than to words. Saba, Anton K.; Turnage, Thomas W. – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
The unit-sequence interference hypothesis predicts that sequences of high-frequency words should be forgotten faster than equivalent sequences of low-frequency words, because of opportunities for response competition that increase with word frequency. (Authors)

Kennedy, Alan – Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1973
Methods used in the present study confirm that rejection latencies are a reliable index of certain strategies adopted in processing prose. (Author)

Labouvie, Gisela V.; And Others – Journal of Educational Psychology, 1973
Intelligence variables were found to be good predictors of recall performance at later stages of acquisition under delayed recall, while under immediate recall, memory variables predicted recall performance best at early stages of acquisition. (Authors)
