The Role of Spiritual Education of Schoolchildren in the Development of Society
Gulayym A. Dzhumabayeva; Gulnur M. Amanova
Education in the Asia-Pacific Region: Issues, Concerns and Prospects
The research aims to determine the relationship between the spiritual and moral development of students and their health and find an effective way of education that meets the needs of today's society. In the context of globalization, it is necessary to teach schoolchildren to build harmonious relationships with people of other nationalities and citizens of other countries. This requires human and social development, i.e., a transition from the soulless to the spiritual. This research examines the concepts of "spirit," "spiritual," and "spiritual nurture" from various scholarly sources. The authors note the shortcomings of spiritual education in Soviet pedagogy, refer to the history of pedagogy, compare it to recent pedagogical research and the requirements of the time, and express their thoughts on spiritual education. As a result of the research, the authors conclude that the reason there are more sick schoolchildren than healthy ones is not only economic, social, and environmental problems but also a crisis of conscience, the lack of knowledge of teachers on spiritual education, stress, and neuroses because of spiritual poverty, etc. The authors link the driving force of the development of society with the development of consciousness and the spiritual and moral state of school graduates. We can say there comes a universal renaissance. [For the complete volume, "Lifelong Learning in Central Asia: Relevance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
