Puerto Rican lesbians (N=61) were interviewed as well as members of the general Puerto Rican community (N=264). Attitudes of both groups were analyzed. Lesbians feared rejection from the community, which was the dominant attitude of community members. Cultural values and a literature review are also presented. (HLM)

Differences related to degree aspiration, desired nursing career specialty, and other nursing-related biographical variables were found among the four classes of a sample of 408 full-time non-RN female subjects in a baccalaureate nursing program. The scales of the Self-Directed Search (SDS) were correlated with the scales of the Armed Forces Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) for a sample of 192 high school girls. The two devices have small to moderate correlations that indicate self-reported abilities and competencies have some concurrent validity. (Author)

Students (N=153) were studied and it was found that low career salience was associated with a relatively high incidence of vocational indecision. Results suggest there may be two sources of vocational indecision: high career-salience students who value intrinsic rewards and low career-salience students who do not value intrinsic rewards.
