Investigated the relation between preferences and expectations about counselors in a university student counseling service with 100 student clients before their initial intake session. A counselor role questionnaire was developed to assess attitudes toward 12 counselor roles, 10 of which were modifications of the major role activities outlined in the ASCA policy statement. Approximately three weeks after taking part of the WISC, the subjects were presented with the same questions, and four multiple choice answers were shown and read to them.
