This study examined the variability of classification by the Matching Familiar Figures Test (MFF) as a function of grade level medians. MFF classification was highly dependent upon which sample medians were used. An exhaustive survey of children's first literature (juvenile picture books and easy readers) determined the extent of age stereotyping--ageism--in roles, behaviors, and descriptions of older characters. The 37 Caldecott Medal award-winning children's books and 129 runnerup books were subjected to a content analysis to evalute the portrayal of adults in children's literature, both fictional and nonfictional. The CATE (Children's Attitudes Toward the Elderly) was administered to 180 children, 20 at each level from age three to age 11. Results suggest that children at all age levels have limited knowledge of and contact with older people. Children's concepts of age increase in accuracy with increases in age. (Author)

One-hour interviews on death, dying, and bereavement were conducted with 434 adults in the greater Los Angeles area. Results support other findings that older persons are more accepting of death in general and their own death in particular than are younger persons. (Author)

Serveral facets of the homemaker job were analyzed in terms of the dynamic relationship between husband and wife. Husband and wife pairs (N=71) completed a questionnaire which assessed satisfaction with the homemaker job, marital satisfaction, distribution of responsibility for homemaker tasks between husband and wife, and other variables.
