High school students (N=81) were surveyed regarding their attitudes on nine factors regarding the alcoholic and his alcoholism, and the drug abuser and his drug abuse. Analysis of the data indicated that on eight of the nine factors the students tended to view the two pathologies in essentially the same way. (Author)

This study investigated the tendency to view one's chosen occupation as ideal, the meaning of an ideal occupation, and the consequences of choosing an ideal occupation. The hypothesis that drug attitude effects of drug education would vary as a function of the valences of the facts learned was tested. Undergraduates (N=48) interacted with a computer to request and receive pseudo-facts about a bogus drug. As predicted, students who received all positive facts evaluated the drug more favorably.
