A group of college males who had reported themselves unable to interact with women were contacted and asked to record every interaction for a week. Following this period a series of behavioral tests was given. After pretesting shy subjects were randomly assigned to a control group or a treatment group. Treatment improved social skills. Results indicate that group members' perceptions are relatively complex and change markedly over sessions in ways consistent with current theories of group development.
