Community college trustees face critical decisions on policy issues. Instead of the growth-oriented marketing approach, the alternative of planned decline under board management is suggested. Comparisons of 1969 and 1975 Carnegie Council surveys on faculty involvement in consulting activities outside the university show that the situation has not changed much, although the debate on the appropriateness of such activity has increased. Successful and least successful fifth graders read and studied difficult or easily understood stories. For both groups, cued recall was higher on stories which made sense. Only the successful students were aware of having difficulty with the less-understandable stories, and allowed themselves more time to study them. (Author/GDC)

Data from this study indicate employment status and type of employment exert influence on students' grade point averages. Students working less than 15 hours per week achieve higher grades than those working over 15 hours. Among employed students, white collar employees achieve better grades than blue collar employees.
