Differences between adjustment to and enjoyment of retirement for a sample of retired professional men are explored with respect to different phases of retirement. Income was a significant predictor of adjustment whereas personality was a significant independent variable for the prediction of enjoyment of retirement. (Author/CT)

Ninety-two adult twin-pairs were recruited. Twin zygosity was determined by self-report inventory. Monozygotic twins resembled one another more than dizygotic twins in most measures of both level and lability of mood, which provides modest evidence for a genetic influence on subclinical levels of depression. A survey found that American graduate students tend to use an individual coping strategy (self-serving attributions) more than Japanese students in dealing with success and failure experiences related to ability. Analyzed data on services offered to battering males in a survey of 90 agencies. Found that most agencies are young, inadequately funded, and provide diverse services independent of each other, and that batterers exhibit characteristics that need specific treatment. Explores Gibbs's (1977, 1979) hypothesis that mature levels of moral reasoning are related to affirmative coping with human needs while conventional reasoning is related to abortive coping. Examined the temperament profile of 1,777 resident assistants compared to a normative sample of 3,352. Results showed the RA could be categorized by higher amiable, expressive, and driving scores and lower reflective scores than the norms, with significant sex differences.
