The open-field activity of 140 children 3-9 years old was observed. Children were either told to stay in one part of the room and play or were given free play instructions. Followed-up 60 participants in a behavioral weight-loss program 4.5 years posttreatment. An inexpensive follow-up class was associated with the recruitment of the majority of participants.
