Study: DEI Policies Can Make the Workplace Less Safe
Emre Kuvvet
Academic Questions, v38 n2 p34-50 2025
This article is an abridged version of a study that examines how corporate diversity initiatives affect workplace safety. It finds a strong positive association between companies' commitment to diversity and workplace accidents and lost workdays. Additionally, the study shows that greater diversity is associated with a rise in consumer complaints related to health and safety and a decrease in customer satisfaction. The unabridged study further explores how diversity policies might influence injury rates through mechanisms such as employee turnover, training investment, and workforce composition.
