A peer tutoring spelling game using social and token reinforcement, team competition, distributed practice, and error correction resulted in dramatically improved spelling performances by six learning disabled third graders. Oxygen consumption and heart rate were monitored in 32 male adults playing racquetball and squash. Results indicated that energy expenditure in racquetball was only slightly less than for squash, suggesting that either sport is appropriate for developing and maintaining fitness in healthy adults.
