A study to explore the sources that degree-seeking University of Wisconsin adult students rely on to pay for college tuition and related expenses (including books, supplies, fees, child care, and transportation) is described. Computational science is defined as science done on a computer. A computer can serve as a laboratory for researchers who cannot experiment with their subjects, and as a calculator for those who otherwise might need centuries to solve some problems mathematically. Alumni and other individuals' contributions to colleges rose sharply in academic 1985-86, totaling 48.8 percent of all donations. Institutions' fund-raising focus on individuals has succeeded in increasing the average gift and the number of gifts, while corporate gifts have grown more slowly. (MSE)

He states that the private sector needs a formal, synergistic mechanism through which it can channel its resources into local schools in a systematic manner to promote educational improvement and human resource and economic development. Evaluation of the unsuccessfully closed cases of 57 deaf vocational rehabilitation clients found that the presence of a secondary disability, a low family income, few years of formal education, inexperienced counselors, and reduced funding for rehabilitation were predictors of unsuccessful closure. A comparative analysis was made of the level of states' financial support for community and institutional mental retardation services (1977-1984). Among findings were that state size and wealth were poor predictors of community service fiscal effort.
