"I Am Proud to Be My Mother's Daughter": The Gift and Joy of Indigenous (Trans)Womanhood in the Colonizing University
Charlie Amáyá Scott1
Journal of Women and Gender in Higher Education, v18 n1 p6-15 2025
The stories of our Indigenous Two-Spirit and LGBTQ+ Relatives were silenced and erased from our history as Indigenous Peoples. However, their existence defies and disrupts settler colonialism, and with their joy, liberation, and decolonization are made possible. This gift is a reflection from an Indigenous Trans-femme within the colonizing university and an articulation of Indigenous Trans Joy and Indigenous (Trans)womanhood.
