This is an examination of the structural stability of affective characteristics relevant to education over a period of approximately seven months. Results indicated that the six interpretable factors were differentially stable over the time intervals. (Author)

The author concludes that one strategy for improving or changing the educational system would be to change the content of the tests as a way of bringing about educational reforms in the system. An alternative biweight estimator based on Tukey's is examined in which (1) test disturbances are not assumed to be the same for all subjects, (2) each response is utilized proportional to its value, and (3) the biweight and maximum likelihood estimate agree when no disturbances are present.
