Reviews of four-phase project intended to develop a model of adult education for teaching communities about energy needs, alternative energy sources, public policy, and conservation practice. Berea College has been improving its work-based experiential education program by developing more integrated combinations of academic and work experiences that are centered around the interdisciplinary study of administrative behavior and developmental processes of the administrative role. (JMD)

Described in an experimental ethics course, taught at the University of Kentucky, in which the student combines the experience of a public agency internship with reflection afforded by readings and discussion of ethical issues in a seminar format. Two baccalaureate-level programs that sought to make their educational outcomes explicit within competency-based education (CBE) are compared. The CBE programs in social work, the learning contracts involved, and assessment techniques are described for programs at the University of Montana and the University of Georgia.

Evaluative studies of experiential education in pharmacy are reviewed, and a holistic approach to evaluation, including a model, is presented. The conceptual model includes content analysis of the course material, and instruments for assessing cognitive and affective domains and analysis and application of skills. (SW)

The status of Antioch Law School in Washington, D.C. is described. The program accepts, nurtures, and turns into successful students applicants who would have been given low priority by most law schools. Advocating the study of practical arts as a means of preparing youth to cope with a wide range of personal and societal problems, the author presents his rationale for and an outline of a practical arts program. Male and female students would be required to enroll in a four-year block (grades 7-10) of practical arts programming. (DTT)

A mathematical game that reinforces basic multiplication facts, strengthens concepts of factors and multiples, and also provides arithmetic drill is described. Four variations of the game are also provided. (JT)

The efforts of three science teachers in individualizing an existing eighth grade physical science program are analyzed. The individualized program utilizes team teaching, student choice in selecting contracts, and extension of the standard eighth grade physical science curriculum. (MN)

Examines the Indiana University Global Studies Project, an experimental alternative to world geography or world studies textbooks for junior high schools.
