Considered were the behaviors relevant to friendship and how best to teach them while at the same time providing positive experiences for clients. The results of this study appear to support the feasibility of using a programmed procedure for learning interpersonal skills. Subjective reactions by counselors and students were favorable. (Author)

Chicano college students who participated in a study skills program based on self-monitoring and self-reinforcement, supplemented with instruction and reinforcement from the program director, reported that time spent studying and performance on tests improved as a function of training and that the improvement was maintained. A study evaluated the impact of five years' exposure to a dental health curriculum on the oral hygiene of fifth-grade students. Findings of the study indicate that a well-designed dental health curriculum based on cognitive and behavioral objectives can result in a greater accumulation of dental health knowledge. (JN)

Assessed the effectiveness of two methods for teaching students to write using inclusive generic pronouns.
