This paper reports findings from nine studies which indicate that mental health services for abused children are warranted for such emotional problems as aggression, negative self-concept, relationship difficulties, inability to trust people, and problems in forming attachments and in making separations. National survey data were utilized to measure differences in self-perception, motivation, and social support through seven stages of the family life cycle. Examined the relation between value system similarity of spouses and marital adjustment. Results indicated that value similarity was only peripherally related to the level of marital adjustment. However, spouse value similarity appeared to have a significant impact upon adjustment in the later years of marriage. (Author)

This paper argues that the emotions have a central place in moral education. Two types of emotions involved in moral judgment are defined: constitutive and regulative.
