A three-year bachelor's degree curriculum is recommended for motivated and well-prepared college students, for some majors. Advantages foreseen include savings in time and money, an improved college atmosphere, higher persistence rates, and less need for departments to lower standards and resort to mass marketing efforts. Findings indicated no significant differences in academic adjustment between Ss hospitalized for short vs. longer periods and better social adjustment for Ss hospitalized for shorter periods. The entire sample was rated as well as their classmates in academic achievement and only slightly less than classmates in social adjustment. (DB)

Albertus Magnus College (Connecticut) has addressed the problem of declining enrollment offering a bachelor's degree program compressed into three years. Three full semesters are squeezed into an academic year. The semester is shortened by two weeks, but class time is lengthened. The third semester's tuition each year is discounted. (MSE)

Physicians and other health professionals attended either a two-day voluntary (n=27) or one-day mandatory (n=23) conference on toxicology. Groups did not differ in pretest/posttest scores; two-day participants were significantly more satisfied. Both groups demonstrated significant knowledge gains. (SK)

Reading, writing, and math performance was compared for groups of 125 health care paraprofessionals preparing for college (attenders; short-, medium-, and long-term stayers; and completers).
