School Teachers' Review Body. Thirty-Fifth Report - 2025
UK Department for Education
The School Teachers' Review Body's (STRB) pay and allowance recommendation for teachers and leaders is a 4% increase to all ranges and advisory points effective from September 2025. This is the level, in STRB's view, that supports recruitment and retention and represents good value for money for taxpayers. The recommendation is based on data. STRB have considered the latest earnings and pay settlements information. The latest recruitment and retention trends are concerning. The analysis also suggests more needs to be done to ensure teacher pay is competitive. This report includes the data used to inform the recommendations and the full teacher labour market analysis. STRB reviewed broader issues that can contribute to improving the supply of teachers and school leaders. They suggest actions in a range of areas to improve the attractiveness of the teaching profession and ensure taxpayer value for money. [This report was prepared by the School Teachers' Review Body (STRB).]
